I can't prove it, but I think this home, built in 1952, with it's quiet grace, may have actually been a 1950s catalog home. When it was originally constructed, there was no Shoreline Drive—just open coastal bluffs that rolled right down to the Pacific. The property stretched uninterrupted to the water’s edge, a front-row seat to sea and sky.
Even today, perched just above the shoreline, the view remains the heart of this place. It is a rare Santa Barbara gem—nestled between the beach, the harbor, and the heart of downtown, yet tucked just far enough away to feel peacefully apart from it all. When we first saw the property in 2024, we knew instantly: this place was special.
The house had been owned and lived in by one family for over 70 years, and the character was unmistakable. It had sweet 1950s details, like a vintage gas range and a humble beach cottage feel that we loved. We set out to preserve that spirit while updating everything else—modernizing where needed, restoring where we could, and always keeping the home’s original soul in mind.
One of our favorite details—a small one, but meaningful—was the built-in salt and pepper shakers flanking the old stovetop. They were humble, quirky, and utterly delightful. While the range itself couldn’t be saved (a long, sad crack made sure of that), the shakers found a second life. You’ll find them now in the office, a small nod to the past tucked into the present.
When a friend came to visit during the renovation, she spotted those shakers and said, “PS—Post Script. That’s what this house is now. A new chapter, a thoughtful afterword.” And just like that, the name found us.
Post Script is the continuation of a story that began over seventy years ago. It’s about honoring what came before while opening the door to something new—a place for reflection, connection, and simple joys. Every guest who stays here adds a line to that story. Stay with us to become a part of the PS now, too!
